Of Slavie extraction, Vakowskaï was born in Amiens in 1932.

He studied at the Academie Julian and subsequently at the Grande Chaumière.

in 1970, his first major exhibition was held in one of France's most prestigious galleries, the Galerie David, which offered him picture space on the avenue Matignon. Since 1935, it has had the honour of accommodating the works of Bernard Buffet, Menguy, Priking, Carzou, etc.

Vakowskaï hasexhibited his work in most of the world's capitals, as well as in France's greatest galleries.

Several celebrities have acquired his works, including Yul Brynner, Sir Charles Chaplin, René Clair, Jacques Fath, Peter Ustinov, David Niven and Michèle Morgan.

Juggling with dreams and unreal beings, Vakowskaï captures them in the golden net of his inspiration, and illuminates them with his inner light.

Lost horizons, vanishing lines, opening onto everything or nothing, abodes beyond the present, inanimate objects, living forms and alien landscapes, he draws us into a faerie of colours.

Let us give this authentic artist his due : he is enriching contemporary pictorial art with an original and pertinent outlook which is both generous and profou
